"Meeting the needs of every student and differentiating instruction to bring success."
As I was leaving the grocery store yesterday, I passed a freshly stocked and stunning array of plants and flowers, outside the front of the store. The bounty of color and variety was remarkable, as befits springtime.
Near the exit of the parking lot I also noticed a hastily scrawled sign that someone had stuck in the grass that said "Online tutoring, call..."
It got me thinking.
Right about now, every year, beauty is popping up and abounding in gardens and patios, and lawns are beginning to turn green and flourish in many if not most places. But naturally there are a few weeds that spring up at the same time that intrude upon a well-planned landscape. Such is the case with the garden of education if you'll follow my analogy here.
I fear that, in spite of a lot of the beauty we are seeing springing up despite these uncertain times, a parallel is becoming increasingly noticeable with education. With Covid19 influencing our day-to-day lives we're seeing online tutoring programs and hastily constructed home-school programs cropping up like weeds. Although I'm certain that some of these new programs and offerings are valid, I also harbor concern that there could viably be a faction of people who might not necessarily be qualified to be offering some of the things they're offering. Some of these weeds can be benign, or even supportive, but I worry about how many are more pernicious.
So what makes Brevik Homeroom Educational Services different?
We've been providing successful mentoring; individual and small group tutoring and support; curriculum design and coaching; and authentic means of tracking and assessment for over 30 years.
So we are not new to this game.
We employ professional tutors who are screened and highly trained. Our team specializes in student needs from early childhood literacy, to fine arts, music and voice lessons for all ages. We support high school content areas, electives, and test prep. We have provided emotional support and alternatives for parents in a home-school venue to help overcome stress and other obstacles; and we have coached, guided, and mentored new teachers coming into the field for over two decades.
So choose wisely as you go forward into the garden of educational instruction, support and alternatives. Do not hesitate to reach out for an initial consultation to see what we might be able to do to help meet your needs and those of your family and these ever-changing in unpredictable times. Now more than ever, it is critical that we all work together to keep our world full of color, learning and positivity!
